Suppose, number of days he was absent = $x$
So, Salary to be deducted = Rs.2 x $x$ = Rs.$2x$
Salary for working $(30-x)$ days = Rs. $(30-x)$ 42
By hypothesis,
$(30 - x) 42 - 2x$ = 952
or 1260 - $42x - 2x$ = 952.
or $44x$ = 1260 - 952 = 308.
or $x = 308/44$ = 7 days.
Hence, person did not work for 7 days.
